Microneedling: Rejuvenate Your Skin
Microneedling is a non-surgical skin treatment that creates microscopic openings in the surface of the skin. These tiny punctures stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin with minimal downtime.
Book OnlineWhat is Microneedling?
Microneedling addresses a variety of skin concerns, including:
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Hyperpigmentation
- Sun damage
- Mild inelasticity
- Acne scars
- Large pores
- Rough or dull skin
This treatment is sometimes called percutaneous collagen induction because it stimulates collagen production. Collagen is the supportive framework of youthful skin and naturally declines with age. By promoting collagen and elastin formation, microneedling leads to plumper, firmer, and smoother skin.
The Microneedling Process
Modern microneedling uses a handheld, pen-like device with a circular arrangement of tiny needles. The device penetrates the skin at a controlled depth, making the treatment highly customizable.
As the provider moves the needles across the skin, microscopic openings are created in the epidermis. These punctures trigger a natural healing response without damaging surrounding tissue.
Enhanced Absorption: The tiny channels formed during microneedling allow the skin to better absorb rejuvenating topicals, such as creams, serums, or other treatments recommended by your provider.
Healing and Recovery
Microneedling is minimally invasive, but some redness and flushing of the skin is normal for 24–72 hours following the procedure. During this time, avoid applying facial makeup, as the open pores may absorb products improperly.
It is also common to experience peeling, dryness, swelling, and minor bumps for 24–48 hours. Follow your provider’s instructions for moisturizers and cleansers during this period. Your skin will begin to look radiant and refreshed within a few days, and results will continue to improve over the next several months as new collagen and elastin develop.
